		<description>Hi Savio,

I disagree with your statement that "virtually every application server is going to be built on OSGi technology". Given the Java-centric nature of OSGi and the reality that there are non-Java application servers I would suggest that the more accurate statement would be "virtually every Java-based application server is going to be built on OSGi technology."

While Java is in wide use across a number of verticals, there are a number of disruptive technologies that, while relatively young, are beginning to mature and displace Java (nature of the industry, it seems). I haven't seen anyone outside of the Java community embracing it, although I certainly expect to see the ports of languages based on the JVM to offer that possibility (JRuby, Jython, et al.).

Open Source seems to be a point of convergence where interoperability is concerned or where no lead / margins exist (or have been lost). Companies like IBM, Oracle, et al., will work together to create "open" standards in those areas, but any of them will take the opportunity to use an open source 'poision pill' to undermine as Matt suggests. How successful the 'poison pill' approach works, however, is up for debate, IMHO.

Regards,

Chuck</description>
